ID Not Required to Vote in Texas

I realize I haven't posted to this blog in a very long time. Politics seems to have a negative effect on me and the last couple of years has been quite disappointing. This last week I started receiving updates from different news sources and of course that got my neck hairs bristled a bit.

Here is what I wrote to a friend in email:

Two things that ticked me off this morning…

1. Funny… I have always been required to show my ID when voting.

Justice Department files objection to Texas voter ID law

The Justice Department is objecting to a new photo ID law in Texas for voters, saying the state has failed to demonstrate that the law is not discriminatory by design against Hispanic voters.

2. No tax would be nice but a flat 10% tax would allow many to save money on their own to pay for health care. And then… maybe doctors and medical facilities will learn the word “competition” and not rely on Medicare to tell them what they can charge.

Administration releases rules for signing up Americans to Obama's health care law

The Obama administration is releasing a blueprint for states to sign up millions of uninsured Americans for medical coverage through the president's health care law.

~end email~

And these two issues hit my alert system within minutes of each other. This is why it's so hard to continue to keep up with all that is going on in the world of politics... my sanity is far more important... maybe. :-)

May we each take the moment necessary out of this day and any day we feel the need to remember those who have gone before us in defense of our freedoms. Without them... we would not be "here"... we would be in chains. ~Bug~
