The Story of Stuff as Seen by HowTheWorldWorks

Lee Doren from How the World Works has provided four video critiques of The Story of Stuff that provides more details as to what is ACTUALLY being said in the video being shown in to our children without our permission in our public schools.

Thanks to Clifton for letting me know Lee put these videos out!

On a promissing note, our son has never been shown the Story of Stuff in his school. Not sure how he escaped that bit of terror, but it's good news!

And there you have it... a little more FACT to add to your day.

I had never seen nor heard of this video until it was brought up on the radio. Often children neglect to mention what they have seen and heard at school and we go about our lives never knowing that they have had lies forced into their brains. As far as they know, we believe the same thing being taught at school. Along comes the day when they see us doing something they were taught is wrong and they come unglued. This causes disrespect from our kids which leads to misbehavior which can lead to the loss of a grand relationship that can be had between parent and offspring when the child becomes an adult. That doesn't mean we all have to agree 100% with our children or our parents... what it means is that we, as parents, need to protect our children from lies so that they can grow up in a healthy environment. Whether or not they hate us for it is another story.

Spiraling into Socialism

Ah yes... Big Brother creeps into our schools with the cheers of the media and the government and the liberal teachers who feel its important to smear any and all presidents (specifically George W Bush) who do not agree with their agenda. They like to say that they are giving the students information from all sides and yet... and yet they lie... surprisingly. They do not give the students anything but what they want them to learn in order to raise themselves up and stamp out their enemies. How do I know? Because I have children and they happen to innocently tell me what they are taught and I am left shocked (although not entirely shocked)... and then I have to give them the rest of the information.

The Story of Stuff found here is being shown in our schools without permission from parents. This is extremely upsetting because the schools are encouraging just one view point.

'The Story of Stuff' Coming to School Near You?

NARRATOR: And that brings us to the golden era of consumption. This is the heart of the system, the engine that drives it. It is so important that protecting this arrow has become the top priority for both of these guys. That's why, after 9/11, when our country was in shock and President Bush could have suggested any number of appropriate things, to grieve, to pray, to hope. No, he said to shop. To shop!(END VIDEO CLIP)

NARRATOR: Like BFRs, brominated flame retardants, they are chemicals that make things more fire-proof. But they are super toxic. They are neurotoxins. That means toxic to the brain.
What are we even doing using a chemical like this? Yet we put it in our computers, our appliances, couches, mattresses, even some pillows. In fact, we take our pillows. We douse them in a neurotoxin, and we bring them home and put our heads on them for eight hours a night to sleep. Now, I don't know, but it seems to me, in this country, with so much potential, we could think of a better way to stop our heads from catching on fire at night. (END VIDEO CLIP)

Glenn Beck’s Latest Target: Us!
In May 2009, the New York Times called The Story of Stuff “a sleeper hit in classrooms across the country.” We’re honored that teachers from middle school through university are using our film to spark debate and engage students in critical thinking.

Maybe Next Time, Glenn…
We appreciate the new viewers, Facebook friends, contributions and other support that Beck has generated for us, but rather than respond to his outrageous claims, we’re going to stay focused on building the more sustainable, safe and just world our children, and all of us, deserve.

Barack Obama speeds us along into Socialism and does it in such a fashion that we are left in the dust trying to see five feet in front of our faces. The change he offers is not offered... it is forced upon us and done so in such a turbo-boost way that it is a full time job to keep up with all he is doing to change our country.

Obama Taking U.S. in ‘Descent into Marxism,’ Soviet-Era Newspaper Commentary Says

The article claimed that America’s descent took place in three stages:
“The final collapse,” said the Pravda article, “has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history, but in the world. If this keeps up for more than another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemer Republican and at worst Zimbabwe.”

Elaborating on the Obama administration’s now-dominant control over General Motors, Mishin mentioned the firing of its CEO by the administration and now its “‘bold’ move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies.”

Russian “Prime Minister Putin, less than two months ago, warned Obama and UK’s Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster,” the article said.

What does seeing our kids chanting and giving praise to Barack Obama remind you of? Perhaps it reminds you of children praising Hitler? Or maybe God? The lyrics remind us of "Jesus Loves the Little Children" so perhaps it reminds you of that? It could remind you of a cult. Hmmm...

Praising your god is one thing but praising a man who hasn't even proved himself as a great leader is a large red flag that the agenda of Liberals is to indoctrinate as many youth into their special club as possible. Their own belief in Obama as their leader will only go as far as he will go for them.

Visit the Right Guy for more information about the video and lyrics found below:The Right Guy: Only in New Jersey: The Obama Youth A Cappella

Here are the lyrics of the chant:

Mmm, mmm, mmm
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must all lend a hand
To make this Country strong again

Mmm, mmm, mmm
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay

Mmm, mmm, mmm
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we all must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance

Mmm, mmm, mmm
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black, or white,
All are equal in his sight

Mmm, mmm, mmm
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes, mmm, mmm, mmm
Barack Hussein Obama

Here are the lyrics of the song:

Hello Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments
We all [inaudible] say "hooray!"

Hooray Mr. President, you are number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!

Hooray Mr. President [inaudible]
[inaudible] economy number one again!

Hooray Mr. President, we’re really proud of you!
We say for all America, the great Red, White & Blue!

So [inaudible] President, we honor you today!
So here's a hearty [inaudible]

Hip, hip hooray! (3x)

Some of the discussion about the chant has focused on the fourth stanza. The words were ripped from "
Jesus Loves The Little Children."

Lovely... just lovely...

tr.v.   in·doc·tri·nat·ed, in·doc·tri·nat·ing, in·doc·tri·nates
  1. To instruct in a body of doctrine or principles.
  2. To imbue with a partisan or ideological point of view: a generation of children who had been indoctrinated against the values of their parents.

Anonymous Posts... Denied.

Just a quick post here about Anonymous comments... they will not be published any more... even if I agree with what is said. I have posted comments in the past that were both in favor of what I said and those who disagreed... so long as the comments were not an attack on me. Lately however I have been receiving comments from trolls. I may decide differently in the future, but for now... show yourself or be denied a space on my blog. If you want to be nasty and have a link to your blog... well, that's your choice to have others follow you home because I will probably let it be posted (unless you're just being flat out vulgar).

This isn't censorship... for two reasons; 1) I am denying everyone who will not identify themselves and 2) this is a blog started and maintained by a free citizen of this country and I am not a journalist and I don't pay anyone (myself included) for making posts or comments to my blog. [Ha... can you imaging me paying myself... I could give myself a raise anytime I want or just refuse to pay... fantastic]

It's amazing to me (although perhaps it shouldn't be) how easily people hide behind the anonymous disguise. It's in this manner that a person does not have to be responsible for his or her own words. They can mouth off or be rude and nasty all they want because no one will know who they are.

Do you kiss your mother with that mouth... nice!

Hey, here's an idea... open up your own blog and make your own posts about issues that are important or interesting to you! Then find other blogs you like and those you don't agree with and make comments while you're LOGGED IN. That way people know who you are and they can reasonably respond.

If you had comments to make to my face, would you hide behind a paper bag? I think not. You would say nothing... or you would find a way to have a civil conversation... or you would be a rude jackass. The big difference is that I would know who you are and you would be responsible for your words... good, bad or ugly (thank you Clint Eastwood!!)

Avoidance is wonderful, isn't it. Just say what you want and don't take the credit or the blame... that sounds much like our government.

Feel the Burn of Remembering 911

Click here for my early post of remembrance for September 11, 2001.

A quote by Rush Limbaugh today...
"I want somebody out there who thinks Obama made a great speech today and Bloomberg echoing it, to tell me how it is that our 'fractured sense of community service' led to the 'crimes' committed against us on 9/11. And I want to know from you how it is that rekindling this 'spirit of community service,' whatever the hell that means, is going to prevent the next attack on this country." -Rush Limbaugh

I want to share a few thoughts today as I realize just how strong I still feel about what happened... now 8 years ago... and the fact we're still dealing with it.

May we never forget the attack on our country and our people. Why? Denial can only lead to more pain. The politics that have occurred since this attack have only led to more ond more open wounds between citizens who do not agree. The small percentage of human beings called politicians whom we have given power to, laugh at how easily Americans can be prodded into the political coliseum where we engage in cock fighting at the mere drip of disagreement. How angry we all are… how angry I am.

Last year I was depressed when 9/11 snuck up on me… this year I am angrier than ever. Not every day… not at those around me… I am angry that political agendas have wiggled under the skin of Americans and given us all a cancer. Anger can be a great asset... but when anger is created for the enjoyment of others it is a cancer. I can feel the burning anger towards our government. Perhaps that is the agenda of the terrorists? If so... I would say it's working.

Political agendas be damned!

We are being told the enemy does not exist and that we, American citizens, are the evil terrorists. They point their political fingers at us and tell us how bad we are and expect what? Repentance for things we have not done? Perhaps they expect us to beg them to cleanse us. With what… their dirty conniving hands? No… the enemy is not within… the enemy is sitting in the bleachers laughing at us. Politicians consort with terrorists and therefore become terrorists. When was the last time you didn’t feel terrorized when you heard the media telling you that you’re a racist or a hater or a stupid conservative bigot? I consider that terrorism… mental abuse, if you will.

So on this memorial of September 11, 2001, I am not depressed… I am angry that our “protectors of freedom” (our military) have never truly been allowed to defend our freedoms but instead have had to play politics and bow to the will of liberal agendas and other such nonsense. Like holding back the lion from its prey until it dies from starvation, we hold back our military with threats of law suits or dishonorable discharges if they dare to defend themselves let alone their country to their fullest ability. Let our warriors fight… let them win with honor.

The question does come up… have we really won the war… is there still a war going on… do our men and women warriors even know where they stand or why they are fighting?

Do you?

Remembering September 11, 2001

It seems there are more and more pictures being created in remembrance of September 11, 2001. People realize that "forgetting" is what leads to reliving history and we must not forget the atrocity that fell upon our country killing thousands of our civilians and sending even more thousands of our men and women to war.

This is a great photo...

Here is a list of posts from previous years with the label "911" found here on BugDrivel.

This post has some amazing videos of 9/11/01. Some show the actual event while others are memorials to the event.

Here is one example.

I wish I knew who created the picture below... I think it's great! It's actually a very simple picture but sometimes those have the best punch.

... And always worth republishing... my son's amazing goals (also seen below in an email to my co-workers in 2008).

Subject: Justin's Amazing Goals

It’s amazing to me how fast time goes and usually I notice it when I think of the fact my son is actually 17 years old. As many of you know, he has joined the Army National Guard and will be going into basic training during the summer of 2009. He will be attending college for four years after that and will not be deployed unless we become involved in a “new” conflict. With so much going on in the world these days, he may end up having his college interrupted to defend our country.

Justin has made it a goal to make this a career as he will go from the National Guard into the Army as an officer after college. Therefore, he may indeed see himself in a situation that takes him from our loving arms and into the arms of a conflict. Perhaps that is why this year’s anniversary of September 11, 2001 (Patriots Day) is affecting me so greatly. It’s the knowledge that my son may be leaving my side to defend my freedoms that I hold so dear to my heart.

Although I find myself in tears at the thought of him simply moving down the street to go to college, I am very proud of his decision to defend his country and have such a lofty and wonderful goal for his future. He is a wonderful young man! I am afraid for his future when it comes to what he may face, but I have never been more proud of anyone in my life; he is more than I could have ever dreamed.

May we each take the moment necessary out of this day and any day we feel the need to remember those who have gone before us in defense of our freedoms.

May we each take the moment necessary out of this day and any day we feel the need to remember those who have gone before us in defense of our freedoms. Without them... we would not be "here"... we would be in chains. ~Bug~
